Over the years I have had the opportunity to observe a number of police officials and how they support their communities, their officers, and their families. I can honestly say that I have never seen a man more concerned with, more in tune with, and more devoted to his community, fellow officers, and his family than Freddie Poor. I have known Chief Poor for about 16 years of my 22 years in law enforcement. He was introduced to me through a Galveston Police officer at an event in Galveston. When I met him, I could tell he was a different kind of administrator. He made me feel like he really appreciated my work and thanked me for being at the event. Later that night the GPD officer told me that Chief Poor is one of the best Chiefs that he has ever worked for. Chief Poor is one of the most sincere and honest people that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He truly cares about his employees and the public.
